How It All Started
On a bustling corner in the center of Hillcrest, San Diego, California, sits La Bonne Table. It’s charm is immediately inviting, the decor and terrace transports you to a quaint street in Paris, France. As you walk by La Bonne Table, you want to go in, you want to be invited on a date there, you want to invite all your friends and family to eat there with you.
Co-owner Sandra Cugusi tells us how it all started…
“La Bonne Table is owned by my husband, Renaud and I. We met back in 2009, when the space was a wine bar called, Voyou. In 2014, we closed the wine bar and transformed the space to a restaurant. Renaud had always wanted to open a French bistro inspired by his parents’ former business in old Paris- a cheese stand at the local farmer’s market.
La Bonne Table means “The good table” as a dinner table, the place where the family reunites and eats together, simple but delicious homemade meals.
We specialize in classic French dishes, no frills no foams just hearty and flavorful beautifully presented. When you walk in you are treated like family. We are authentic and kind. We want to get to know you, your guests at your table and hope to see you over and over again. The feeling inside La Bonne Table is a classic, timeless ambiance, yet casual. Paris in SD.
I have personally been in this industry for over 30 years and Renaud about 20 years. We have a strong passion for food, people and the way people connect over an amazing meal and a beautiful dining environment. We have a deep appreciation for our guests and hope that they will enjoy a relaxing dining experience while feeling like they are somewhere in France.”
